Maryland Emancipation Observance at Sumner Hall

Observe the 151st Anniversary of this seminal event Sumner Hall. Traditional music will be provided by The Burke Family Singers, The New Gospelites, and Derryl Deaton with Men of Janes Choir. Poetry by Robert Earl Price, and film will also be featured in this hour-long program.

Artists on Display at Sumner Hall during River Arts Chestertown Studio Tour

Donna’s work reflects her love of nature merged with her passion for crafts, including painted bird houses and guitars among other items.


Sculpture, Oil Paintings and Pastels
Allen is a painter and wood carver. His thought-provoking paintings explore African American themes and his wood carvings vary in size from small folk art objects to wonderful sculptures of faces and animals. His work is unusual and one-of-a-kind.


Pastels, Painting, Jewelry
Kathy is a graduate of Washington College, with a BA in Art, and is a certified art teacher. She works primarily in pastels and acrylics and has studied with colorist Sam Feinstein of New York. Horses, cows, and landscapes are among her favored subjects, reflecting her years as a horsewoman, riding instructor, and her life on a dairy farm. Presently, she does animal portraits and takes commissions.
